About Us

Friends, artists and designers. Brought together by a shared vision for experimentation, nature and non-conventional thinking. Motivation can be as simple as making somebody smile or as complex as coming up with new ways to deal with waste.

Our work ranges from sculpture and graphic design to material exploration and programming.

Feel free to contact us about anything creative - whether you need help implementing an idea or just making cool stuff.

Some pics of the sheet press that Jason worked on at @realpreciousplastic with a bunch of very passionate and talented people. The press was created as part of Version 4 of the project ‘The Precious Plastic Universe’, and it allows people to produce 1mx1m sheets from recycled plastic. A kit containing all the information to build a press can be downloaded for free at https://community.preciousplastic.com/academy/build/sheetpress. If you haven’t yet, please dive into the world of Precious Plastic 🙏 Picture credits @realpreciousplastic
Forgot these mycelium hands in our grow tent over the winter break. It was a funny moment to come back to find that the fingers on one hand had grown together to create the “Live long and prosper” hand sign. This was a very symbolic accident. 🖖 The hands are grown on washed up reed collected from a lake in Finland, and produce edible mushrooms as a by-product. These hands symbolise action, and this piece is part of a conceptual project with @caracaracollective and @verderosadesign that explores the positive handprint that humans can make in order to help the environment. #biofabrication #mycelium #growth
Last weekend was exciting for us! Radul and Jason traveled to Barcelona to the Responsive Cities Symposium organized by the IAAC, to talk about the possible role of biowaste in the construction of future cities. At the same time, Aleksi went with @caracaracollective to the Bildmuseet in Umeå, Sweden, to showcase objects made out of orange peel and other types of biowaste. With our work we promote local production from locally available waste streams — no need to always extract virgin resources and ship raw materials across the globe.
Today is the opening of the Design Matters exhibition at Bildmuseet in Umeå. If you happen to be in Sweden, you can check out new peel objects on display until April 2020, made by our friends @caracaracollective 🍊

For the last year Jason has been working with @preciousplasticnl in Eindhoven creating a new press for turning discarded plastic into strong sheet materials. Alongside he has been further developing the recycled plastic skateboards. The latest decks will be exhibited at @dutchdesignweek starting this Saturday. Precious Plastic will also host interesting workshops about recycled plastic product development, sustainable fashion as well as biomaterial production. If you have the chance to visit, this is a perfect opportunity to see the latest innovations in creative open source plastic recycling. #plasticrecycling #skateboard #preciousplastic #opensource #dutchdesignweek
